7th International WETPOL Symposium comes to America for the first time
When it all started
The first WETPOL was jointly organized by Gijs Du Laing and Diederik Rousseau at Ghent (Belgium) in 2005. Based on the success of the event, following editions were held in Tartu (Estonia, 2007), Barcelona (Spain, 2009), Prague (Czech Republic, 2011) in 2011, and Nantes (France, 2013). The symposium attracts scientists, practitioners, policy makers, and stakeholders from around the world together scientists working on biogeochemical processes in both natural and constructed wetlands in order to create a platform for information exchange between those scientists and also to serve as a forum for the establishment of cooperation initiatives.
